The Ancient Rome chess set in its most accomplished version: the board rests on a black case that hides a drawer. Inside, each piece has its imprint sculpted to its exact shape. Nothing moves, nothing clatters.

A set that stores as well as it displays
Closed, it's a decorative object on a coffee table. Open, the drawer presents the two legions lined up as in a jewellery case. It's the format designed for gifting.
Finishes
Black & White — sober, contrasted. Gold & Silver — warmer, more decorative. For Rome, gold and laurel go together.
The finish applies to the pieces: the board is black and white, the case is black.

The paint is applied by hand, piece by piece. Your set won't look exactly like the photos — it will look like itself.

Our squares are 32 mm while the tournament standard is 50-57 mm. This is an object made for a coffee table or a shelf, not for a club — we'd rather say so before you order.
The board measures 28.2 × 28.2 × 8 cm. If you buy the pieces alone, measure one square of your board: it's the only real constraint.
Care

Dry microfibre cloth, nothing else. No water, no alcohol, no solvent: they attack the paint.
Avoid prolonged direct sunlight and the proximity of a radiator. Place the board on a flat, stable surface.

Both. It's a complete, playable chess set, but sized for the display cabinet rather than the club: our squares are 32 mm while the tournament standard is 50-57 mm. If you are looking for a competition set, this is not the one.
